PLATINUM - Pure, rare and strong, platinum is an ideal if expensive choice for rings. Its strength and density
make it a safe choice for holding gems securely and resisting wear the surface will scratch just like any other
metal bot will not dent as deeply. Quality marks for platinum rings at least 95 percent pure include PLATINUM
or PLAT [United States] or PT 950 or 950 PT [Europe]. Quality marks for rings between 75 percent and 95
percent pure include the alloy content IRIDPLAT [indicating that an iridium alloy has been added].
GOLD - Rings are most often created from 14K and 18K gold, as pure 24K it too soft. The K indicates the karat,
which is a measure of gold purity. A lower karat means alloys, which diminish the brightness of the gold but
